Rocktober Intensive Lindy Hop Weekend

Music/Comps

Live Band

Featuring Chelsea Reed & the Fairweather Five!

Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five are at home at swing dances, jazz clubs and concert halls alike. They have played renowned Philadelphia venues and travel the country year round to perform at both Lindy and Blues exchanges and workshops. They’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Gordon Webster, and bassist Michael Gamble. They love exploring the roots of jazz and finding creative ways to interpret forgotten songs. Drawing upon the intensity of powerhouse vocalists, the ingenuity of 20th century composers, and the soul of the dance floor, Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five honor the heritage of jazz with fresh arrangements and original songs. They are silly, passionate people who love playing this music.

Random Partner Contest

You must be a weekend pass or dance pass holder to qualify for the 60 Seconds of Fame competition.

A Random Partner contest is a format of partner dancing competition where competing couples are the result of random matching of leaders and followers. Music for each dance is selected at random without the participants’ prior knowledge.

Depending on the number of competitors, we may have one or many “heats” where the judges will watch the group paired together randomly. A subset of dancers will be selected for finals.
